TEANECK -- Police identified the worker who fell to his death from a rooftop at the Glenpointe Tuesday morning as the complex's building manager.

Investigators were trying to determine if strong winds knocked Clifford M. LeMay off the Frank Burr Boulevard building, according to police Chief Robert Carney.

"At this time, it appears that Mr. LeMay's death can be attributed to a horrific accident and no foul play is suspected," Carney said.

LeMay was on the roof checking for possible damage from high winds overnight, officials said. He was found dead in a grass courtyard area of the building around 7 a.m.

David Sanzari, the president and CEO of Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, which owns the office and hotel complex, described LeMay as an experienced manager and valued coworker.

"Management has communicated with employees and tenants, and we are heartbroken to have lost an individual who has been part of our daily work life for more than four years," Sanzari said.

Emergency crews quickly arrived to an initial report of a person needing medical help, according to officials. He fell from seven-stories up.

Township police and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office worked for hours at the scene to investigate LeMay's death.

"He was highly regarded by all of us -- a person who was appreciated and loved by both our employees and tenants who knew him," Sanzari added.

The firm was "shocked and saddened" at the death and extended condolences to LeMay's friends and family, the company's president said.

Carney, the township police chief, also offered his condolences after the death.

The National Weather Service previously said strong wind gusts were possible Tuesday and a wind advisory was in place through the morning. A gust recorded Monday evening at Newark airport reached 58 mph.

Authorities first identified LeMay as 56 years old, but later said he was 57. Sanzari's statement identified him as 56.

The Glenpointe building, near I-95, includes a hotel, offices and fitness center.
