Rabbi Steven Pruzansky of Teaneck suggested that many campus rapes were more likely consensual sex.
TEANECK - An Orthodox women's group is calling for a Teaneck rabbi to withdraw from a conference about family life after he published a blog post dismissive of campus rape, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Rabbi Steven Pruzansky of Bnai Yeshurun suggested that many rapes on college campuses were more likely consensual sexual encounters in which the woman later said she was raped because the man was no longer interested in a relationship.
"There have even been occasions when the woman who later claimed she was 'raped' spent the night, or several nights thereafter, with her beau, only to realize weeks later after their breakup that she had been assaulted," Pruzansky wrote.
"If indeed there was a 'rape culture' on American campuses, no intelligent woman would want to attend college. The fact that more women attend college today than men itself belies the accusation," the rabbi wrote.
The Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance is calling on the participants of a one-day educational conference called Building Strong Families Together to withdraw unless Pruzansky - a featured speaker - is replaced, JTA reports.

"Pruzansky has been saying many wrong, sexist, hateful, racist, inciting things for years, but this is the straw that has broken the camel's back," Sharon Weiss-Greenberg, JOFA's executive director, told JTA.
Pruzansky told JTA that the criticism over his blog post is due to a culture of political correctness. He said the problem on campus isn't rape but a "culture of promiscuity and entitlement."
