The crash occurred where there was no crossing for vehicles, officials said.
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS -- An allegedly intoxicated man was hospitalized after he drove his truck onto railroad tracks in Hasbrouck Heights early Saturday morning and was hit by a train, officials said.
Ediberto Rodriguez, 50, of Clifton, drove his silver 2001 Toyota Tundra around 1 a.m. onto the tracks near Malcolm Avenue, which is not a grade crossing, said Nancy Snyder, an NJ Transit spokeswoman.
The vehicle was hit by an NJ Transit train headed to Hoboken on the Pascack Valley line, she said.
None of the nine passengers and three crew members on board was injured, Snyder said.
Rodriguez will be charged with driving while intoxicated and interference with transportation, she said.
Rodrguez was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack. A hospital spokeswoman said she was not able to give information about his condition.
