A Waldwick man is still hospitalized after crashing into a utility pole Sunday.
PARAMUS -- A Waldwick man still hospitalized from a crash along Rt. 17 south Sunday has been issued a number of motor-vehicle summonses, Chief of Police Kenneth R. Ehrenberg said Tuesday.
Andrew Ishak, 28, has been charged with reckless driving, careless driving, unsafe lane changes as well as driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Ishak was in critical but stable condition Tuesday at Hackensack University Medical Center, Ehrenberg also said.
Ishak was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser shortly after 2 p.m. when he struck the divider, careened across four lanes of traffic and slammed into a utility pole, police said. Ishak had to be freed from the vehicle, which was wrapped around the pole.
This is at least the second time Ishak has been involved in a motor-vehicle accident in Paramus, police also said. In July, he was driving a Nissan on Rt. 17 south when it crashed, with responding police pulling Ishak from the burning vehicle. He was not charged in that crash.
