Ben Ramos faces several allegations.

PALISADES PARK -- The Borough Council voted Tuesday to file more charges against suspended Police Chief Benjamin Ramos, the Record reported.

Ramos faces several allegations, including that he ordered officers to tow and ticket legally parked vehicles, publicized information on the promotion of an officer before council approval and took unapproved paid time off.

The borough suspended Ramos without pay in February over earlier allegations that he harassed and retaliated against a subordinate. Lt. Matthew Finck has accused the chief of "repeated hostile conduct" and plans to sue for $10 million.

Ramos has pleaded not guilty to the charges and plans to contest them in a public hearing. The hearing is expected to continue for the next few weeks.
