Firefighter killed in Parkway crash with drunk teen, report says

TOMS RIVER -- A motorcyclist killed Saturday in a crash with an allegedly drunk teenager has been identified as a Bergen County firefighter, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.

Frank Stetz, a Wallington firefighter, was killed around 8:30 p.m. Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a minivan driven by an 17-year-old motorist on the Garden State Parkway near Toms River, State Police said.

The teenager was charged with driving while intoxicated and additional charges are expected, the report said.

Teen charged with DWI

Stetz, 48, was a member of the fire department for 17 years and an avid motorcycle rider.

In 2013, Stetz was injured when he fell from a ladder truck while delivering gifts to children in an annual fire department tradition, the report said.

Stetz is survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister, according to his obituary. Funeral plans are still pending.
