A Fair Lawn man was found face down in a Wildwood Crest motel pool Saturday.

WILDWOOD CREST -- A man who allegedly received an electrical shock while swimming in a motel pool in Wildwood Crest over the weekend remained in critical condition Monday morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Greg Subiszak, 34, of Fair Lawn, was pulled from the Aztec Motel pool on East Lavender Road around 8:30 p.m. Saturday by a maintenance worker and a fellow guest who did CPR, police said.

He was first taken to a hospital in Cape May Regional Medical Center, then transferred to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia in critical condition. His condition was unchanged Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Man pulled from hotel pool

A man who said he was the Aztec Hotel's owner declined to comment on the accident Monday. But he said the hotel's pool remains closed.

Witnesses told WPVI-TV in Philadelphia that Subiszak was swimming with family and friends when he was spotted face down in the pool Saturday night. When a friend went into the water to help, he said he got an electric shock after stepping on the pool filter. Friends believe Subiszak got a more severe shock before he became unconscious.

A hotel maintenance worker shut off the electricity in the area before Subiszak was pulled from the water, witnesses said.

Police are investigating the incident.
