The Rockland County, N.Y., resident in April was found guilty of vehicular homicide for the road-rage incident.

HACKENSACK -- A Rockland County, N.Y., man will spend more than five years in prison for his role in a road-rage crash that killed a Teaneck woman on her way to church, a report says

A Superior Court judge in Hackensack on Friday sentenced John Emili, 24, in connection with the death of the 63-year-old woman on the Garden State Parkway, The Record reported

The report says Emili's lawyer and mother urged Judge James J. Guida to veer from sentencing guidelines and give Emili a three-year jail term and probation, but Assistant Prosecutor Martin Delaney said Emili deserved seven years because he posed a grave danger to other drivers on the day of the crash.

A jury in April found Emili guilty of vehicular homicide for the July 2012 crash that killed Annetta "Rita" Billingy, whom Emili was driving from her Teaneck home to Deeper Life Bible Church in Spring Valley, N.Y., the report says.

Emili and Thomas Vanderweit, then 27, were speeding and repeatedly changing lanes until Emili crashed near Exit 168 in Washington Township, the report says.

Vanderweit was convicted and sentenced in December to six years in state prison, according to the report.
