The fire started early Thursday.
OAKLAND -- A fire at a Ryerson Avenue home sent one person to the hospital and displaced two others, Vincent Dies, assistant chief of the Oakland Fire Department, said.
Firefighters were met with a heavy fire when they responded to a call at the house at about 5:54 a.m., Dies said.
Smoke was pouring from the house. The three people inside escaped on their own, but one person suffered burns was hospitalized, Dies said.
Firefighters brought the fire under control quickly, but the house was heavily damaged, Dies said.
"I would imagine they're not going back in that house any time soon," he said.
Oakland Police Chief Edward Kasper said his department was investigating the fire but declined to comment further.
