N.J. man downloaded porn, was inappropriate with 13-year-old, cops say

HACKENSACK - An 18-year-old Bergen County man was arrested Wednesday after investigators accused him of using the internet to download images of children engaged in sexual activity.

In addition to downloading images, Jeremy M. Haar of Fort Lee and Norwood is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl, according to Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir s. Grewal.

The victim was an acquaintance of Haar, the prosecutor said in a statement.

The arrest came after members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Computer Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at 142 Kensington Ave., Norwood, and 2000 Linwood Ave., Apartment 5D, Fort Lee.

Haar, a student, lived at both places, authorities said.

The pornography included images of pre-pubescent children engaged in sexual activity, the prosecutor said in a statement.

The prosecutor said Haar is charged with endangering the welfare of a child for sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child for the possession of child pornography and criminal sexual contact.

He was held on $50,000 bail pending a June 29 court appearance.
