A bear wandered into a garage in Franklin Lakes.
FRANKLIN LAKES -- A borough couple learned not to leave their garage door open when a bear wandered inside Sunday night.
The bear got into a garage on Navaho Trail Drive, Carol Tyler, animal control officer for Franklin Lakes, said.
The bear left by the time police arrived. The couple said they regularly leave their garage door open, leading the bear to find food exposed inside, Tyler said.
Police asked them to stop leaving their door open. Tyler said the residents should take the ursine visit as a warning.
"They really should shut their doors," she said. "Leaving the door open on their garage or on your shed will attract animals."
