Donald Trump is defending former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who resigned from the network as he defends multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

"It's very sad, because he's a very good person," Trump said in a pre-recorded interview that aired Sunday on NBC-TV's "Meet the Press."

"I've always found him to be just a very, very good person," Trump said. "And by the way, a very, very talented person."

Attorneys for former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit against Ailes in Bergen County Superior Court, claiming he sexually harassed Carlson and terminated her employment when she rebuffed his advances.

Up to 20 others have since come forward claiming Ailes harassed them. One of the reported accusers is Megyn Kelly.

"Some of the women that are complaining, I know how much he's helped them," Trump said on "Meet the Press."

"And even recently, and when they write books that are fairly recently released, and they say wonderful things about him. And now all of a sudden they're saying these horrible things about him."

Trump also denied that Ailes would be needed in his U.S. presidential bid.

"A lot of people are thinking he's going to run my campaign," Trump said. "My campaign's doing pretty well."
