LYNDHURST -- A man entered a Lewandowski Street bank Tuesday afternoon and made off with an unknown amount of cash after threatening a teller, police said.

Police responded to an alarm at M&T Bank around 4:15 p.m. and were told the man placed a white towel on his head, walked up to the teller with a plastic bag and demanded it be filled with cash. The man also said he would shoot employees but never showed a weapon, police said. There were no customers in the bank.

The man took the cash and left on foot. No one was hurt.

The man is described as white, aged 25 to 35 with a medium build. He was wearing sneakers, khaki pants, a white, long-sleeved tee-shirt, a dark-colored baseball cap and sunglasses.

The investigation is being handled by Lyndhurst police, the Bergen County Sheriff and the FBI.
