The Union City mother of five, who no longer has custody of her children, waited four days to get medical attention for the newborn

A woman gave birth to her fifth child in the bathtub of an apartment overrun by cockroaches and then waited four days to seek medical treatment for the newborn, according to a report.

The unnamed Union City woman has since lost custody of her children, NJ1015.com said.

An appellate court panel on Wednesday upheld a family court judge's ruling that the woman abused and neglected her children, according to the radio station.

Four days after delivering the boy and cutting the umbilical cord with scissors, the mother wrapped the baby in a towel, hid him under her clothes and boarded a bus to her boss' Maywood home.

The boss then brought the woman and the still-hidden infant to the nail salon where she worked and handed over her paycheck, the report said.

From there, the woman rode a bus to Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen where she waited outside for six hours before going in to get the child checked.

Hospital officials then tipped off state officials, who went to the woman's apartment and found it infested with cockroaches. The other children were then removed from her custody.

The boy was born on May 26, 2012, the report said.

It's not known if the woman has been charged criminally since she is not named in court papers.
