LEONIA -- A longtime crossing guard jumped in front of a mother and daughter to protect them from an oncoming car, CBS New York reported.

Jamie Sclafane said she was pushing her daughter across the street when a car came speeding around the block.

Charlie Lee, who is posted at the intersection of Broad Avenue and Fort Lee Road each school day, jumped in front of mother and daughter and yelled, "Stop!"

Lee has been a crossing guard for 15 years, and is well known by Leonia residents. He was hit by a car in May while on the job, but was back at work the next day.

Fort Lee Road is a popular cut-through for commuters headed to and from the George Washington Bridge.
