The testing is set to begin April 4 and will last no longer than six months.

TETERBORO - The Federal Aviation Administration will test a new flight path to Teterboro Airport in an effort to provide nose relief in the area of Hackensack University Medical Center, the administration announced Tuesday.

The testing, which is set to begin April 4, will last no longer than six months.

"The FAA will begin testing a new proposed visual arrival procedure for Runway 19 (to) determine its potential impacts in accordance with FAA environmental orders," FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac said in a statement.

The Hackensack hospital is located about 1.5 miles north of the airport.

School upgrades approved

Currently, aircraft approach Runway 19 east of Hackensack University Medical Center, according to the FAA.

The proposed charted visual approach would shift aircraft under visual flight conditions slightly less than one-half mile to the west of the medical center, the statement said.

The flight path for the proposed procedure closely follows US Route 202 in Ramapo south to the point where it merges with N.J. Rt. 17. From there, aircraft follow Rt. 17 to the airport.

Salac said the Teterboro Airport Noise Abatement Advisory Committee requested the test.
