ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS - A Brooklyn man led police on a chase shortly after 12 a.m. Tuesday without his headlights that reached 115 miles per hour, according to the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police.

An officer running radar near Exit 2 in Alpine spotted a white Acura about midnight as it passed at 105 mph, police said in a statement.

The officer activated his warning lights and chased the vehicle south on the parkway, according to police.

"As the vehicle approached 115 mph near the Tenafly section, the (driver) turned off the vehicle's lights," police said.

The officer briefly lost sight of the vehicle, but then spotted the car as it left Exit 1 onto Palisade Avenue in Englewood Cliffs, police said.

The vehicle fled west on Palisade Avenue but was blocked by several cars stopped for a red light.

Officers removed two men from the car but charged only the driver.

Shawn S. Henry, 25, was charged with second-degree eluding and several motor vehicle violations, police said.

He was held at the Bergen County Jail on $25,000 bail.
