All that spring-like warmth we've been having this month is gone -- at least for now. Normal December temperatures have returned to New Jersey this weekend, so it will be a chilly day on Sunday when the Giants take on the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium.
KICKOFF WEATHER OUTLOOK
Forecasters are calling for mostly sunny skies throughout the afternoon, with temperatures hovering around 41 degrees at kickoff time at 1 p.m., rising to 43 at 3 p.m., then dropping back to 41 about 4 p.m. With a gentle breeze of 6 mph, only a slight wind chill is expected during the game, according to the latest AccuWeather forecast.
TAILGATE ALERT
If you're planning to get to MetLife Stadium early for some pre-game festivities, bundle up. The morning will be a cold one in East Rutherford, with temperatures ranging from 32 degrees at 9 a.m. to 40 at noon.
WHAT TO WEAR
Best bet for a cold afternoon: Dress in layers, starting with a long-sleeved T-shirt or flannel shirt, topped with a hooded sweatshirt and a winter jacket. Recommended accessories: Thick socks, gloves, and wool hats or headbands.
